Family Therapy
What is Family Therapy?
Family Therapy and Family Counselling work to improve the interactions among members of a family in order to improve their functioning both as a family unit and as individuals.
“In a nutshell, the goal of family therapy is to work together to heal any mental, emotional, or psychological problems tearing your family apart”. (Lee, 2010).
Family therapy continually works towards lessening the impact of any conflict between you on your children; improves communication styles so that it does not have any impact on your children and looks to implement any necessary boundaries to improve your future communication together.
Family therapy emphasises the role of the family relationship in the emotional health of everyone. Healthy interactions within the home environment generally bring about much better environments for our children and family to grow and become well-adjusted both mentally, socially and emotionally.
One of the goals of family therapy and family counselling is to help family members solve family problems and conflicts through improved communication, greater awareness of childhood and adolescence issues, and better understanding of any special family situations.
Josephine has had years of experience working with a broad range of families and situations including court ordered (FCFCOA) family law matters often involving high conflict and complex family matters and related observation and evaluation reporting.
“But at the end of the day, we’ve got a great kid who’s got two parents who love him very much. And we’re finding a way to navigate this while still remaining friends and still being kind to one another.”
— Chris Pratt
