Observation and Evaluation Reports
Observation and Evaluation Reports are usually prepared in relation to court-ordered family therapy (FCFCOA). They are usually written on the request of the court (FCFCOA) or an Independent Children’s Lawyer after several family therapy sessions and provide an overview of family situation, particularly where there are disputes over parenting arrangements for children.
The purpose of these reports is to assist the court (FCFCOA) in making decisions that are in the best interests of the child(ren). They typically include an outline of the family members who have participated in family therapy, including any teachers, doctors or other therapists and professionals that the court (FCFCOA) has deemed necessary for the family therapist to liaise.
The report will also include an evaluation of the family dynamic and situation(s) and suggest recommendations that are in the best interests of the child(ren) in relation to parenting and other matters that are relevant to the family, including any risk or concerns that may impact the child's wellbeing.
It's important to note that Observation and Evaluation Reports are not always required or ordered by the court, as they are not always necessary in every family therapy matter. However, in cases where there are significant disputes over parenting arrangements, they can be a useful tool to assist the court in making a decision that is in the child's best interests.

“Children will refelct and remember their childhood years always. As a family we need to keep this in mind so that our children have memories that are positive and happy as their foundation, it is in everyone’s best interests.”
